Due to its lack of power, I do not like the word victim. But because of that, I need to tell that I think about food every single hour of the day. As if I was a starving kid in a poor country. I plan my day around what I will eat. It is disgusting.
The food industry in the United States is an ever expanding business complex that, rather build a fat army for a valueless dollar. Such business makes and advertises for each individual to eat 3,800 calories a day. We only need 2,000. Eat! Eat! Eat!But do not forget to keep eating. What is freighting is that food regulation is virtually inexistent. We are getting now some of the worst produce ever eaten. With governmental support, corporations produce food the cheapest way possible. It is not surprising that our food is infected with bacteria and other toxic substances. Blaming the “terrorist” of food contamination is good war propaganda. I rather the government would make corporations spend more money in the way they prepare their products, and raise the standards of what can be sold without making us pay more. The more processes the food is the better. The only regulation is the right to sell and make money.
Culturally food is used as a sign of status. People want to see and be seen in expensive restaurants. Tell other friends of the fantastic dinner they had, at an upscale fast food. They might explain a low service tip by describing how horrible was the service. In the work environment there is always a co-worker eats out all the time. It may be the case that, they are to lazy to cook. But there is a sickly psychological satisfaction in eating out and eating. People rather swipe the slaving credit card than prepare food at home. It is disgusting.
