Like African Americans, illegal immigrants are a disenfranchised group that is not appreciated for their contributions to this country. However, unlike African Americans if they are not accepted, immigrants can look for loyalty in another country. Consequently, instead of investing their money in the United States they send it to the country that they can call home. Immigrants and illegal immigrants send millions of dollars in aid to their home country because they are not integrated into the economy. They are told that we do not want them or there families. How different things could be if they had the opportunity to invest here? I find it ironic that a nation build on the notions of capitalism hesitate to incorporate people into their spending rituals.

On Obama Wins Iowa Caucus: People are ready for change

A year ago I was talking with a friend; wondering what was the likelihood for the United States to elect a black, woman or gay as president. (Of course admitting to ourselves that probably the United States has already had a gay president) We concluded that the American public was not ready for neither.

Today, I was reminded that we are the people. As part of the majority we hold the same concerns about the future of this country. We are the ones that have to experience the foreclosures, the low pay checks, and the $5 milk gallon. (The Bush Administration Legacy)

We need to keep moving forward. This country was not build for the rich. On the contrary it was build by people seeking change from injustices of religious fanaticism and monarchical monopolies. I believe we are ready for change. It is an interesting situation because it involves the needs of three states’ governments and those of the feds. The access and amount of water being used is at the center of the debate, and in the middle of such mayhem there is a water hog. The water hog is a man that lives in a suburb of Atlanta, whose residence requires the usage of water used by 60 homes per day.

What is left to do for the working people to do? Call the media.

The people of Cobb County in Georgia exposed the water hog and forced him to re-evaluate his greediness. Although the property still uses massive amounts of water, he reduced the water usage for his palace.

It makes me feel good to know that the media still serves the people.

http://www.wsbtv.com/news/14587528/detail.html

I would like to take a picture of her naked body.

I would like to take a picture of her naked body.

Women, body image, and culture engage in a long conversation that intrigues and haunts us. The lines of the female body are admired and psychologically mutilated in each of us. Although culture is not restricted to a specific body type, culture plays a fascinating dance that defines and punishes our body lines.

In the case of the specimen of the Nacirema money allows for quite a freedom. I came across with young specimen that engages in mutilation practices, in order to satisfy our eyes. Linda is a 20 year old college student who loves going through multiple surgical procedures. She has undergone gastric bypass, breast augmentation, tummy tucks, chin modifications, and still succeeds in finding abusing boyfriends that put her down. As part of our nature, environmental change makes us more adapt to new situations. Individual adaptation makes our survival more pleasant. But this decade have proved to show tragic attempts to resist change, even when the environment allows for an easier social well being.

Some Case Studies:

Gay Scandals in the GOP-The recent cases of Bob Allen, Larry Craig, and Richard Curtis did not catch me by surprise. All were caught in the act, and pledged to their heterosexuality, which only leads to denial and more public embarrassment. Is quite confusing especially with the vast amount of gay rednecks in the states. I learned that not expecting may get you into interestingly frustrating situations. Working for the not for profit social sector can be disappointing. There is not enough money being injected into social programs, which makes my job and lifestyle harder to accomplish. Moreover, the more you listen to new stories it becomes apparent that what the people need is not what the people are getting. This redundant bureaucracy creates a never ending web of redundant phone conversations.

And my co-worker loves his job

You may like this faux power given by a comfortable chair. But because of that, I need to tell that I think about food every single hour of the day. As if I was a starving kid in a poor country. I plan my day around what I will eat. It is disgusting.

The food industry in the United States is an ever expanding business complex that, rather build a fat army for a valueless dollar. Such business makes and advertises for each individual to eat 3,800 calories a day. We only need 2,000. Eat! Eat! Eat!But do not forget to keep eating. What is freighting is that food regulation is virtually inexistent. We are getting now some of the worst produce ever eaten. With governmental support, corporations produce food the cheapest way possible. It is not surprising that our food is infected with bacteria and other toxic substances. Blaming the “terrorist” of food contamination is good war propaganda. I rather the government would make corporations spend more money in the way they prepare their products, and raise the standards of what can be sold without making us pay more. The more processes the food is the better. The only regulation is the right to sell and make money.

Culturally food is used as a sign of status. People want to see and be seen in expensive restaurants. Tell other friends of the fantastic dinner they had, at an upscale fast food. They might explain a low service tip by describing how horrible was the service. In the work environment there is always a co-worker eats out all the time. It may be the case that, they are to lazy to cook. But there is a sickly psychological satisfaction in eating out and eating. People rather swipe the slaving credit card than prepare food at home. It is disgusting.

Feeling Good

Currently reading Holy Terror: Andy Warhol Close Up by Bob Colacello

After graduating and taking a desk job, I realized that I was turning into the typical conformist northern American. I would start my day by reading celebrity gossip and ignoring the issues that surround my situation. While getting intoxicated buying products that I do not need and eating out like a pig. I have been interested with the tragedy of the “American dream” as reflected in Lindsey Lohan, and ignoring the racial injustices caused by of Jena High School controversy. I am not tired of margaritas, but I am finally concentrating on things I enjoy. Now I give you the pleasure to enjoy my words with that that fascinates me: culture, art, and the collective.
